Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as provided by Google OAuth.

Task input and breakdowns

The tasks you paste into Clevedon and the breakdowns we generate are processed to deliver the service. Pro plan users can save breakdown history for up to 30 days. Free plan breakdowns are not stored after your session ends.

Context and preferences

If you set a role, experience level, or context panel content, we store this to personalise your breakdowns. Pro users can save up to 3 named context presets.

Payment information

Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store your card number or payment details — Stripe handles this directly. We receive a subscription status and customer identifier from Stripe to manage your plan.

Usage data

We collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of access. This helps us diagnose issues and understand how the product is used.

• To personalise breakdowns based on your role and saved context
• To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts)
• To diagnose technical issues and improve the product
• To enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your task content to train AI models.

We share information with the following third parties only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

Anthropic

Your task input is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate breakdowns. Anthropic processes this data according to their privacy policy. We do not send your name or email to Anthropic — only the task text and context you provide.

Stripe

Stripe processes subscription payments and stores your billing details. Their privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.

Google

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google OAuth. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of your data.

MongoDB Atlas

Your account data, preferences, and (for Pro users) breakdown history are stored in MongoDB Atlas. Data is stored in the region closest to your location.

• Free plan: Breakdown outputs are not saved. Account data (email, preferences) is retained while your account is active.
• Pro plan: Breakdown history is retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
• Account deletion: You can delete your account at any time from the account settings page. We will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance reasons (e.g. billing records).

Clevedon uses cookies to maintain your session after sign-in (via NextAuth). We also use localStorage to remember your theme preference (light/dark). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict our processing of your data
• Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
